I am an American, and if these people were all from my country, I would be even more unhappy with their "education" than I already am. However, there are 12, I think, countries involved here. It's possible that it is extremely difficult for some of these people to communicate with us, and that in reality, they are doing a pretty good job. I often wonder if some of the "comedians" on this site are just being silly. Sometimes I get a little frustrated with the structure of many questions, and my replies are generally a bit strong. Other times, when I am in a calmer place, myself, I over-look the grammar and simply type a nice, cordial answer. I know one thing...... if I had to communicate with people from a foreign country, I'd probably be handed a bag full of peaches instead of directions to the nearest ladies room.

Probably a combination of a lack of knowledge and laziness. Today, we rely far too often on the Internet for our answers which requires we do little, if any, reading and research. Both help people become better writers and spellers. Just take a look at our so-called journalists. Many murder the English language.
I also blame the teachers who say, "I don't count spelling or usage when I evaluate papers. I am not an English teacher." Well, sorry to correct those numb-numbs, but EVERY teacher is an English teacher and should insist on good writing standards. If not, then how can the student even begin to communicate his/her ideas effectively? Even math teachers need to shown the correlation between word problems, which give students so much trouble, and reading because they are not taught how to READ the problem in order to set it up!!
With spell check on the computer, there really is no excuse for poor spelling. Good expression comes from writing and being held to high standards. Today's students are not held to high standards.
Said by me who taught English in high school for 26 of my 40 year career in education. I spent more time discussing why their child was not a gifted writer as they had been told in middle school where the "feel good"philosophy continues to deceive students and parents and set the kids up for future failure.
I hope this helps.

Relying too much on spell checker, maybe?
There could be a variety of reasons for poor spelling including the fad issue. Incorrect spellings are a problem for me too, however the guilty writer isn't necessarily stupid. He or she may have difficulty with phonics, which unfortunately isn't taught in schools any longer. Many may not know how to properly use a dictionary to locate the correct spelling of a word. Most unfortunate would be those that are too lazy to try; these people I would refer to as stupid.

Think about it. There are people in here that are 11-18 that have limited spelling or grammar capabilities. Also, some of the language is computer short-hand. It could be that we are not as computer savvy as others. So, in this case, ignorance works both ways.

Many people with high IQ's lack spelling skills, so stupid is not what I'd call it. Personally I was born with many gifts but spelling wasn't one of them. I have a vary high IQ as well. On the other hand there's no excuse for not using the spell check feature. ;-)

I can spell correctly most of the time. It's just pretty much just being lazy. If the subject I am writing has any importance, well only then will I make some effort to correct every error.
Other than that..... fcuk it.

I agree with the 1st answer, laziness for the most part.
Also, a lot of people are not from the USA so it's possible that they are not accustomed to proper english.
