I'm a grad student TA, and I have already faced a ridiculous number of plagiarism cases in my short tenure TAing for political science classes at a medium-sized public university in New York State. For me, this is especially bothersome because, not only am I an aspiring academic, but I'm known as the Citation Master in the department... I would sleep with the Chicago Manual of Style under my pillow if it weren't so thick. As a TA, I don't have much control over the assignments themselves or the punishments for plagiarism, but I do have control over how I present the problem to my students. We already require that they turn in assignments in electronic format, and we make it very well known that we use Turn-It-In to check for plagiarism... and yet it still happens!!!

I have noticed as a teacher that alot of anti social problems in children (adhd, add, ecc.) are found in children with unsupportive/absent/uncaring parents and/or have grown up in a bad society. Does anyone agree with me? Also, do you think that better correction methods would help?

My math teacher was absent for about 2 months total and we didn't do the 2nd year algebra unit about series. He told us that this wasn't important for analysis (next year's pre-calc), but other persons have indicated this is a necessary unit that I should try to learn over the summer. Is it worth trying to learn over the web and wikipedia?

Unfortunately I have been burned out of three homes, and I have had to go back in with "insurance" people ect. so they could declare what level of loss it was, and I noticed that all three had different levels of damage, where as in the first my clock was one big drip hanging still on the wall. and my "partial plate" which they made me find as they said they don't burn, were burnt..
in the others there was more wall/wood damage. at what levels of heat does what happen...
ps. none of these was caused by anyone in our apartment.
sorry this was so long.

I live in Canada and want to take some free online courses. (I am on diability and can't afford anything). Does anyone know of a website in Canada where I can take free courses, at my own pace - at home - as a lot of the time, I don't feel well. I would like to take something in Accounting, (to update my skills) medical transcribing. business... I know this will make me feel much better about myself and help me on the road to recovery.

Has anyone out there noticed that those who respond in a very critical, sarcastic, harsh, etc. manner to these questions (i.e. my question re: my I Q test results) are the very ones who do NOT have their contact info. listed as to receive feedback/ e-mail stating this?

To the rest of you... you guys/girls are ALL INTELLIGENT, REALLY!
Thanks for your great answers, I feel better already--regardless of those "clueless clowns" who are down right mean.

"H___ " in my previous question stands for "heck" or "hell" , whichever you prefer.

Not HIV-- for the person who asked that.
To the person who asked:
have YOU (and to ONLY the person who answered with that) taken an IQ test lately?
Sorry to the rest of you guys, but, that was just a ridiculous and offensive answer from "her". I believe you would agree. Yes, I have a sense of humor..but I appreciate intelligence also.
By the way, I get tested on a regular basis for that, (because it is the "smart" thing to do) when it comes to that horrible disease. Very happy to say I am free, and hope to continue that way. I am being smart and careful, and try to STAY that way..regardless of the sexual revolution going on...but that is a whole different thing..

Should it be won't or just wont? My understanding is that if the majority of people use one way then it becomes accepted as the 'correct' way. Has this happenned with "won't"?
