Here's the dilemma: nurses are always in demand. you'll have no problem getting a job. Egyptology is very interesting, but it is difficult to find meaningful employment unless you get a Ph.D. Even then, the best you could hope for is a professorship. The safe bet--nursing. The risk--egyptology. I can't decide for you.

RN

No matter how tight the economy gets we will need nurses. It's impossible to "out source" medical care. There is a shortage of nurses in the US so the pay is very good. You can go anywhere you want an get a job. In addition nursing has many areas of service. You could work in a Dr's office, emergency room, surgery, with babies or the elderly. Many more options.

Do you have as many options in Egyptology?

Egyptology is a very interesting field of study. However, you'd have an easier time getting a good job in nursing. Hospitals are really short on nurses.

They're both immensely difficult, immensely rewarding careers, and I say good luck with whichever you choose. Here's how I make hard choices like this: sit down and think real hard about each choice and it's pros and cons. Pray, if you're religious, for insite and help. Then flip a coin.
Here's the catch: if you find yourself unsatisfied with the outcome of the coin flip, it means you were secretly hoping the other option would win, so then you know what you really want to do!

That's easy. Which kind of people do you like to be around?
Dead or alive?
