My math teacher was absent for about 2 months total and we didn't do the 2nd year algebra unit about series. He told us that this wasn't important for analysis (next year's pre-calc), but other persons have indicated this is a necessary unit that I should try to learn over the summer. Is it worth trying to learn over the web and wikipedia?

I teach that in Pre-Calculus. Your teacher will probably teach it from scratch, if lots of you are in the same situation. But if you have time, it never hurts to learn more on your own, and is good prep. for college.
