As urban sprawl claims what was a desert, now with cities being built in the former deserts, the name desert no loger can apply according to dictionary.com they define deserts as; A barren or desolate area, especially:
A dry, often sandy region of little rainfall, extreme temperatures, and sparse vegetation.
A region of permanent cold that is largely or entirely devoid of life.
An apparently lifeless area of water.
An empty or forsaken place; a wasteland: a cultural desert.
Archaic. A wild, uncultivated, and uninhabited region.

so as you can see the almost all of the definition no longer applies, what new name or word shall be applied to reclaimed desert land?

A college professor had a very simple test for his students, it was a one question quiz and that question was:

Why?

As he observed his students he could see them racking their brains to figure out the answer. Many of then kept scribbling out what they had previosly written searching for the right answer. Then one student got up after a couple of minutes turned in his paper and left. While other students spent the entire class answering this one question, he was the only one to get an "A" on his paper.

1. What do you think that students answer was?
2. Why do you feel the professor gave such a quiz?
