A worker's permit is needed to be employed as a minor between the ages of 14 - 17. The minimum age varies by state, so you will have to check to know for sure. Even if the age to work can be as young as 14, many states have provisions as to the type of labor and the amount of hours worked that are allowed. Other provisions include the number of hours allowed worked during school days & hours of the day that can be worked.
