We'd like to go to a casual place where a party of eight (non-New Yorkers) can sit down and have a GREAT sandwich with friendly service. Any place like that in Manhattan? We'll be there in June. We will be a party of party of 8. We'll be dressed casually - but want to have a comfy setting and great food. A deli would be fine. We'll be there on a Saturday in June. If you could provide an address (or at least a street) - along with the restaurant name - that would be great!

My Mom wants to go to Tavern on the Green in NYC for her 80th birthday. While I know that this was a very classy place back in the 70's and 80's - I haven't been to New york in a long time - and I don't know if it's still a high end restaurant. If you've been in the last year or so - could you rate it on a 1-10 with 10 being the highest - and tell me why? Thanks so much.

NYC: The village. It's a very tiny, quaint but elegant restaurant located right off of 7th Ave in the village. Right across from Caliente's. Can't remember the name but do remember the great food & talented jazz singers. It's a tiny place that's a bit hidden.
Anyone out there know the name?
