The servers don't make money hourly... only about $2.13 and that pays for taxes... most of the time their paychecks are void ($0.00)... the tip is how they make money.... it would be horrible if everyone stopped serving.

I am finishing up my server training at a very corporate resturaunt tomorrow and I have to take a complete menu test which I am super never about. I am not a very good tester to begin with and learning the ingredients of an entire menu of food when I wasn't expecting to do this is hard work. Any suggestions? PS Does anyone think its a bit rediculous to expect somone to know the ingredients of every item including alcohol on a rather large menu when they have had 4 days of training?

I work in the dine in restaurant industry and there's a place for to go food at my restaurant. I know that people in the restaurant industry complain about not getting tipped for to go and that they set up all the food themselves.

Meanwhile, people are saying that you don't need to tip out for carryout on pizzas since someone isn't delivering it to you.

What exactly are your thoughts on tipping on takeout at a dine in restaurant vs. carryout at a pizza place?

ok why should tips be a percentage? ex. if i go to a nice fancy restaurant say outback, olive garden and nice steak house ect... pay 50 bucks for two people, why should they get the better tip than if i go to Sonnys' pay 20 bucks for two poeple and get the same if not better sevice than the expensive restaurant? why is at said that 15-20% should be tipped if all restaurants fhave different prices but many with the same great service?

Everytime this lady comes, even with her mom, she always gives a $2 tip no matter how much the bill is or how many people, no matter how great the service is. If u got a $2 tip for 4 ppl, Would u find this insulting? Would it be wrong to ask politely (and out of curiousity) to see from her point of view, if the service was bad? She never complains about food or anything else. she "acts" nice. Or maybe she's just too daymn cheap? Should I just give her crappy service since she started giving crappy tip? Get what u give? We've always been great with her...but now it's just too much. Maybe she's gotten so use to us "accepting" it. Should I underline the 15% gratuity guideline on the credit card receipt? Maybe she thinks it's a Thai restaurant, so u can be cheap with them? well, we ain't Chinese, ok. Actually when she comes to the restaurant, nobody wants to serve her table. What do u think? btw, she paid cash 1 time, & left quickly without tip when it was busy & no one lookn
