This is particularly for situations where you serve yourself and the only service received is pickup of used dishes and water refills.

Having lived in London, I'd say Ginnan in Islington is the best Japanese food I'd had. I live in Japan now, so obviously it's everywhere. But where's the best Japanese restaurant in the world? I'm on a mission to find out...

How come when I want to smoke my pipe in some restaurants and bars I am not allowed to, the manager will ask me to refrain from lighting my pipe. Yet these same restaurants and bars have a smoking section where people can smoke cigarettes. Pipe smoke smells way better than cigarette smoke any day. Why do these restaurants and bars descriminate against pipe smokers?

be served.
I don't see why I should have to crane my head forward like an idiot and compete with other idiots to get served. If they get served before me because the bar staff are idiots then I don't give a sh*t. I've got some dignity at least.

Trouble is my mates get angry and impatient when it is my round and I can't get the drinks in quickly because of this.

Neil. Surrounded by idiots as usual.

What would be the apprioate tip at a restaurant that has complimentary valet parking. These guys work only on tips. The entrees at the restaurant are between 20-30$. Also if you dont valet then you have to pay 5$ to use the parking lot/garage. $1?, $5?, $10$?

Does anyone know what sauce the Cheesecake Factory uses on their Grilled Turkey Burger? My husband and I ate there when we went to Baltimore and I ordered the turkey burger. It was the best turkey burger I've had, next to my own of course. But they put a sauce on it & I can't think of what was in the sauce. Thanks!!!

Here are some details about the particular restaurant I'm referring to, divided into "to tip" and "not to tip" sections =p

To tip:
1. It's a regular restaurant, not some buffet chain where you pay at the front.
2. You pay after you finish your meal.
3. The waiter does bring tea to your table, and cutlery is already on the table when you arrive.

Not to tip:
1. You get your plate yourself.
2. They don't change your plate for you.
3. And finally... it's buffet, it's mostly self-service, and it's not a hotel or a 5-star establishment.

So... to tip or not to tip? And if yes, how much?
(Note: Please give your answer as "standard tip" or "less than standard tip", because Americans might suggest 15%, but I live in the UK where 10% is standard - even in hotels!!)
