We have just bought a restaurant / guest house in a rural part of France.

It is situated overlooking the town square, over 200 years old and stone built.

We are looking to serve home cooked French farm cuisine using local ingredients.

The house is number 11 and so far the names that we have come up with that we like are

"Onze" and "Onze Sur La Place" meaning 11 and 11 on the square respectively, do you think either of these are good names or can you come up with something better?

I have 2 daughters and I am worried that someone may spike their drinks. I heard that there are papers, analogous to litmus papers, which can test a drink for this. Specifically, there is a Drink Additive Detector, which is a small reactive strip that changes color in the presence of a drug when dipped in a drink. Can you help me?

What training issues do you have with front of the house and back of the house employees do you most frequently face?

I am working on some training manuals and would like imput with different aspects of restaurant/hotel industry management.

What would be the most critical training/safety features you would like to see implemented in your facility?

Do you see training as a valuable and necessary tool, for creating long term employees?

Thanks so much~

I tired to pay at a restuarant with a $100 bill that was rejected. I had no idea that the bill was fake and the cashier says that he had a right to take it from me. I told him that I wanted to take it to my bank to confirm and so he just gives it back. Ok, who is in the right here?

Do you ever feel/felt burnt out from the restaurant biz?

What did you do after you stop working there?

I've been waitress for two years, but I'm just burnt out. I don't think I can do it anymore. The constant worry that I'm not doing a "good enough" job is killing me. I'm also tired of slaving away (and doing a good job) only for people to determine how much they want to pay me (tip me)

Anyone have a similar experience.

a service charge and a gov`t tax? Is this optional or offensive if I neglect the waiter`s attention? I for one do not like to give again if there is already a service charge included in my bill.

what would you do, if you buy something at fast food restaurant or some other place and bring the meal home to eat and find out that the meal is utterly CRAP and tastes horrible. Would you eat it? would you return the meal or file complaint to the manager or would seek a refund? or simply trash the meal, never visit that place again and forget it? i trashed it, and never visited that restaurant again. But my friend says, i should also complain to the restaurant that its meal was horrible. I however, feel too busy to do that. Should i listen to friend or just forget it? i mean the meal wasn't even cooked properly. there was some raw meat in it.

I work at a smoothie place, and this black woman comes through the drive-thru wanting a Hawaiian Breeze with extra, extra, extra splenda and extra, extra, extra yogurt. This costs an additional 4-5 dollars, but she wants to get charged only a dollar-something more. She's a pig, she once called me a terrorist and curses at the employees all the time. She is seriously psychotic.

I have a co-worker that is very picky about what she eats. We have free lunches where I work. I enjoy the meals even though sometimes they are not as good as home cooked, if you know what I mean. My co-worker hates all the food that is served and makes everyone miserable with her comments.

What can be said to her to make her shut up? (By the way, she can't be un-invited to lunch. We have to all go together).
