If it was hot, served neatly, and came from an individually owned place I would assume that it was their best shot at a good meal and it was not palatable to me personally so I would trash it and not go back. If it was not up to temp, served in a sloppy manner and from a reputable place that was otherwise a very popular choice by most people, I would take the food back and complain, since it was probably due to the employees who prepared it and didn't give a damn what it tasted or looked like.

If it were reasonably convenient, I would have taken the food back to the restaurant, asked to speak to the manager and requested a refund.
Otherwise, most chain restaurants including fast food have websites. Somewhere in their websites, you should be able to find a contact us button. Report the incident as accurately as possible and be sure to note down the information from the receipt if you received one.
If you enter your contact information, you should receive a response within a week. If not, complain a second time noting that you are waiting for a response.
For something as serious as uncooked meat, you could contact the local health department as well.

I'm a manager of a restaurant and I always want a guest to speak up immediately. When a server asks you if everything is alright say NO...We are then able to rectify the situation right away. However, if you don't say anything and then call back later it's a little hard for us to do anything. Restaurants are ran by humans (well most) and we are not perfect.

I used to experience that same thing. That's why I only eat at home. You should learn a lesson from it, and start preparing your own meals. You don't know what you're getting at those restaurants. Everyone might not be as decent as you.

If you are eating it at the restaurant you should report it as soon as you discover it is not cooked enough but if you take it home and it is a ways to go back a phone call will work and ask to speak to someone in charge. and good luck

You should complain if the meal wasn't cooked properly. No matter what that is okay to complain about; it violates the health code and thus the law.

Simply return the uneaten portion, and politely request a replacement meal or a refund. POLITELY is the keyword here; it really does take honey, rather than vinegar, to obtain satisfactory results! And, please do NOT let another establishment take advantage of you again - as you said, your time is valuable because you are busy - remember, your $ is as valuable as your time!

I would take the food back to that place, and ask for the manager. I would show them the food, and ask if they can make a adjustment, or a replacement and this time, to cook it fully.
If they are honest, they will do something about it.

With the time it took to write that, you could have been back to the resturant and received a refund already.
