I work in a restaurant as a waiter. Do people that tip less than the standard 15-20% not know how to tip or just don't believe good or excellent service from a waiter (or waitress) to be worth that percentage? All opinions are welcome...

I read Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation, and a lot of it really freaked me out. Could anyone give me more information about the TRUTH on the big corporate cattle, poultry, and fast food industries? Websites would be especially helpful. Thank you.

Some years back while driving through Key Largo, I think, I came across a restaurant serving Bermuda Triangles as an appetizer. They were onion rings fashioned as triangles... possibly made from Bermuda onions... does anyone remember where this was, does it still exist?

googling stumbled me across "La Taza de Oro" in Chelsea which sounds like it's in the ballpark I'm talking about...

but word of mouth is better...

>>> and anywhere from 'upscale-diggity' to 'dive' restaurant recommendations are all welcome; and some of both would be preferred actually... $~$$$ but not much higher

thanks in advance

*bonus if they serve homemade-style cabrito~*

Manhattan and Brooklyn area~?

I remember seeing an article in the New York Times about a restaurant (I forget where) but the staff purposely insult the customers ... I mean, people go there knowing they will be insulted. It's like the theme of the restaurant or something, and it was saying how some people give big tips for being insulted more!

I know it sounds crazy, but I did see this so I'm wondering if anyone knows the name of it and where it is?

To anyone who's seen the Burger King Commercials with the guy in the king costume - who else besides me thinks that guy is creepy?

I think it does. I have been there about five times and feel like I've wasted my money every time I leave. You're supposed to go out to eat for good food; theirs is not.

I had the bacon cheesburger thinking it's not possible to mess it up, yet they did. Their salad is not good and neither is anything else they make.

I just don't understand how it is always filled when I go. I don't know if people understand that there are alterniatives, much better alternatives; like Chilli's.

What do y'all think?

I just went to KFC and I ordered a 3 Chicken Strip Meal with extra Potato Wedges... so it cost $3.20? I gave the lady a $20, I got $16.80 back. Then the manager comes up and says, "what's the order." They talk a bit and end up giving me $12.00 more. The meal I got was 2 KFC Snackers and Potato Wedges... crap... I didn't say anything took the extra money and my food.

So I got a free meal and 8 bucks.

I've divided them into catergories so it's easier.

MEXICAN
choice 1- very very near house. tex-mex. relatively inexpensive. pretty good food.
choice 2- a little farther away but not too far. authentic. cheap. good.

AMERICAN
choice 1- very near where I live. pretty cheap "normal" food.
choice 2- pretty close to home. same price as choice 1. pretty good food. sometimes live music. haven't been in a while.
choice 3- pretty near my house, pretty good food, pretty fancy though.
choice 4- Expensive/upscale american food pretty near my house. kind of stuffy atmosphere, but pretty good food.

PIZZA
choice 1- mellow mushroom.
choice 2- ok pizza with very thin crispy crust a little farther away with not-so-good atmosphere.
