It can always be hard. You get mean customers all the time. And if you're not good at remembering things it's ok because you start out by using the note pads. After a while when you memorize most of the items on the menu, and become better at remembering what people order you can stop using the pads. Do you have good balance? If you have very bad balance I don't know if being a waitress is an ideal job for you, but you can always practice and get better.

Waiting tables is hard work, period. It's physically demanding - you're on your feet, running around, back and forth between a hot kitchen and a colder dining room. You rarely get a chance to sit down or visit the rest room, you're carrying heavy trays and hot items. The hours can stink. It's also emotionally difficult - you'll be dealing with the public, and they can be rude, demanding, and downright irritating. It helps if you can multitask well and if you don't get flustered easily.

The money can be good, but typically you need to work at a higher end place to make the better money. However, the more high end places won't hire you with no experience, so cutting your teeth somewhere is a good thing.

I waited tables all through college, and I loved it. It can be a hard job, but it's usually very fun. If you are afraid of dropping things, just slow down a little and pay attention to what you are doing and where you are going. Keep a notepad with you so that you don't forget orders. My favorite part was that I got to work with a bunch of different people. If a customer was a jerk, I only had to deal with him/her for an hour or so, and then they would go away and usually give me money.
Just remember to smile and be friendly, and you'll do fine.

Never worked at either one of those places, but if you're into being a waiter and you like people, try it out. I did it, quit the office job & went to waitressing. I love my job! Try new things, it doesn't hurt. You can make a good buck doing it. If you don't like it, try something else. Good luck!

being a waiter is super easy. the most difficult place to wait tables is at a mexican place b/c the plates are heavier and u don't just have to refill drinks....u have to fill their chips, salsa, queso....some people eat it like crazy and they keep u super busy filling it up....but other than that it's a piece of cake and u can make really great money in just a couple of hours

You might start out being a banquet wait person. Then you don't have to take orders, you just serve and remove dishes. It would help get you some practice.
