My Tv suddely shows fine lines and the image comes and goes, any idea wahts happening?

Most of my tapes are home videos, I have a few commerical tapes from the mid-80's to early 90's that are not out on DVD and would like to preserve them. I'm tried of waiting, I want to get rid of these tapes. Taking up too much space.

I have the following equipments right now and would like to know what else I need to buy to make this happen:

1) Daewood DVD-VIDEO player (only the Video is working)
2) Phillips DVD player
3) Comcast Motorola DCT2500 digital cable service

I'm not tech savvy, simple but detailed explanations would be appreciated.

I know I'll probably need a DVD recorder, but can I just buy a stand alone since I have the DVD-VIDEO player?

I have kv-1440 e soney tv. from last week if i switch on the tv it hasn't picter or sound but some time after 10 minits it is working but sometime not.

We'll be using it to watch HD DVDs and TV. Most of the viewers will be within a 30 degree arc and 6-8 feet from the set. The room is fairly bright in the day as we don't have curtains for a window that gets mid-day sun. I'm looking for the best value unit versus the best or the cheapest.

i have a samsung 42"rear projection tv.it was moved from sitting room 2 my bedroom some time back but it wont work at all it turns on and you think it will start 2 show the picture then turns off after.i have looked at manuel and it says 2 clean filter and i have and it still dosent work and the temp in room is ok 2 helllpppp

This weekend I bought a TV off a friend and when I plugged it in nothing happened, it just wouldn't turn on. Then my TV which I have had for about 6 months stopped working, now all it does is buzzes at me, no matter where I plug it in. This has happened to 2 more TVs in this flat but I thought the the others were just because they were old. Is it likely to be a socket problem or something with the wiring perhaps. I am also worried because I plug my laptop into that socket too.

I'm using Panasonic DVD-RAM, 4.7GB, re-writable.. Message says "read only".or "This is a non-recordable disc".
What's wrong? Machine and disc both brand new.

I am trying to find the official Philips made stand for my TV, a Philips 24PW6518/05 but I have checked ebay and amazon and they dont stock just the stand so I am wondering if anyone has any ideas if there are any specialist sites or stores that would stock something like this, its pretty important to me to get the official stand as most 3rd party tv units ar made for either portable tvs (14") or large screens (32"+) but my tv is in a confined space so I really dont want the overhang from a unit that is 5 or 6 inches to big on either side of the TV.
