I'm using Panasonic DVD-RAM, 4.7GB, re-writable.. Message says "read only".or "This is a non-recordable disc".
What's wrong? Machine and disc both brand new.

Make sure the disk is clean, but you already know that. As for your problem, it's got me. try turning the power on and off.

Ring the Manufacturer or the retailer and ask them.

Check the manual to make sure you purchased the correct discs
recommended for the machine. Some units can be fussy about playing RW discs burned on other machines, but if your recorder rejects a clean disc outright, chanches are there is a problem with the machine. Take it back ASAP within your 30 day
return period (?).

DVD recorders are pretty tricky to operate, even for a tech like me.....I end up reading the owner's manual to get it to record properly......

The other possibility is that one or 2 DVDs right out of the box can be bad, so try some others before condemning the machine.
