Normally, the moment you take the magnet away the spot would vanish as well.
I think it will go away after sometime, otherwise the TV would need degauzzing, the charge accumulates there causing the coloured spot, the TV mechanic can degauss it using the degaussing coil.
You may also try to use the tv at a different angle, shift it a bit, the older generation Computer Graphics Screens ( the big ones like 21 inches) used to get this problem and just by shifting the screen ( due to the earth's magnetic field ) the spots will vanish after some time.

to remove a spot made on a picture tube you can use any ac coil like a soldering gun ( not a pencil). with the coil turned on start with small circles in the middle of the tube. make overlapping larger circles until you have reached the outer edges of the tube. then pull the coil a few feet away from the tube and it will be good as new. in fact if your tv does not automaticaly deguess itself when you turn it on ( it will make a loud hum if it does ) you should do this procedure every year or when you move the tv to a different location.

yes, it can be removed with the same magnet, just buy "pushing" the spot away. If it doesn't work, or you end up making more spots, get an electric drill and tape the magnet to the drill bit, then turn it on and let the spinning magnet clear up all your worries!

My childlren accidentally touched a magnet to my television, and I was never able to get rid of the discoloration it caused. I hope you have better luck that I did.

for tv's that go on stand-by instead of off, plugging in it in and unplugging it repeatedly for a minute or two helps a lot
