My dad asked me a question I cant find the answer to. Someone told him that the tv's that we use now wont work in a few years because of changes to the signals coming in. He wants to buy a new one, just a small one, but is worried it wont be of much use. What is the real story as what the future of televisions is going to be in five years?

Any experts with cable television? What would cause only one channel to not come in clear? It has shadows/ghost images. I have replaced the cable and connectors and still getting this. It is not the TV since it is happening on both TVs (spliced).

I am looking to fit a plasma tv above an open gas fire. I have been advised that this may cause problems as the heat from the gas fire may cause the plasma to expand and damage the tubes ?

When I switch on the TV, at first the picture starts very narrow and gradualy widens out to the whole screen. Is this an indication that the TV is on its way out?

I have an old portable TV which currently works perfectly well, however it has no scart socket (yes, it's that old!!) will I be able to attach a digibox to it somehow when the analogue signals are switched off, or will it have to be binned?

480i vs 1080i? Is it worth the extra money?

I am looking at these two televisions:

The LT23HVX,
http://www.olevia.com/jsp/products/otherModelspecs.jsp?pid=LT23HVX

The LT26HVX,
http://www.olevia.com/jsp/products/otherModelspecs.jsp?pid=LT26HVX

The LT26 has 1080i support, but is about $200 more. Is it worth it?

You can look it up on the Circuit City website model number LN-S2341W. I bought it in June 2006 and have rarely watched it-have been in the hospital much. I live in Greenville, SC as it would require pickup. I am asking 600 for it. Know anyone interested?

I've looked at a few sites. So far, the best I have found is a Westinghouse 32" from Best Buy for $830.99. Does anyone else know of any other good ones with PC Input(s) and Picture in Picture?
