Need help fixing a television?

I have a 32 inch and the screen is dark. Is there some type of chip that need to be replace that I can buy and replace myself? Please only experienced people answer.

No, but try this, unplug the set from everything, including VCR, DVD, cable, electric, speakers, everything. Wait about 5 mins and plug in just the electric and see what happens. There may be a ground on one of the other units causing this to happen. After that, if it does not work, go on line with make, model, etc of the television, and check for this type of problem with the same. You may find an answer there.
