they ruin projection screen tv i had one i paused for 5 min nba live 2k7 and its inprint is still on the screen

they can ruin some of the older tv's if the game is left on pause for long periods of time as we have one tv with a sonic the hedgehog Marble zone 2 image in the background! however the newer tv's as far as I am aware are fine with video games.

depending on what kind of tv you have. most older plasma and projection screen tvs dont recommend playing video games on those types of tvs cause of the refresh rate to video games is to fast and images burn happens 99% of the time.
if you have a basic tube based tv you might have to take your tv to a repair shop to fix the sphereing and discoloration.
if you have a plasma or lcd, some have a color burn reset option which helps fade the color burned images.

Usually it won't cause anything. But the hard disk could be the cause of color distortion, since it uses electromagnets. Even though electromagnets are being used, it doesn't have enough power to drag the electrons from your TV.

Yeah on some T.V.s. i think its plasmas you'll start to see a trail left behind like from a race car or hockey player and then after so long it makes an impression and stays like that all the time.

on sum resolution tvs they do make sure its at least 50mz,soon all comps will rely on 60 though.
