SAN FRANCISCO -- Microsoft announced Thursday it expects to spend more than a billion dollars fixing flawed Xbox 360 video game consoles, which have logged "an unacceptable number of repairs."

The blow to Xbox 360's reputation comes as it vies in the marketplace with Sony's languishing PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's coveted Wii consoles, which made their debuts in November of 2006.

Microsoft reports it has sold more than 10 million Xbox 360 consoles since its US launch at the end of 2005. The company would not disclose how many of the consoles have needed repair.

Microsoft said it discovered console flaws that cause hardware failures signaled by three flashing red lights.

Microsoft is offering to repair or replace problematic Xbox 360 consoles.

Microsoft is extending Xbox 360 warranties from one to three years and offering to reimburse those who bore the cost of fixing the consoles.

"This problem has caused frustration for some of our customers and for that, we sincerely apologize,

I would like the kind that takes a 'typical' 70s picture. You know: yellowish, slightly blurry, vibrant colors.
I don't know much about cameras themselves, so I'm not sure if they even MAKE 70's stlye film anymore.

However, would someone be kind enough to fill me in?

just had a quick question I thought you could answer. I've been hearing about the conversion of all analog Tv to digital Tv and i just wanted to know if this conversion will be good or bad for the large television networks, satellite and cable companies? and what options will consumers have as the conversion approaches? and how do you personally think that this conversion will change television programming?

When it goes off it only plays music that I don't like. I didn't realize there were different types of alarm clocks for each kind of music. So frustrating. I don't like this music and now I have to go back to WalMart and buy a rock and roll alarm clock. When did they start selling these types?

I'm thinking about switching to Tracfone. I'd like to know if you were satisfied with their service. I'm thinking about getting the Motorola W370, so if you have that phone, whad did you think of it? Are Tracfone's rates good, and if you live in central Minnesota, did you get good coverage? How about downloadable graphics and ringtones? Anything else important to know about them? Thanks!

I understand that you have to send the iphone only to an Apple service center for replacing the battery. That could be a huge problem if the iphone is going to act as a cell phone .
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

I currently have a analog cordless phone that worked fine until we went broadband with our computer - and now the phone has terrible reception and was told a digital cordless phone will fix the problem, can anyone help me by explaining what I should be looking for ?
