Do I have to delete IE or what? What do I do to make the Firefox download my default browser. I use Google to look up everything, so I really don't know what an Internet browser is or does. If I switch, can I easily switch back. Please, keep answers in simple terms.

I just got a new laptop this summer before going to college, a HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista. Anyway, it came with a free, limited use (60 day, maybe?) version of Microsoft Office, including Word. Anyway, it warned me that after October 31st it would go to a limited-use version that was only a viewer. So, I uninstalled it and installed a full copy of Microsoft Office, in this case a 2002 version according to the About file.

Now, with my Word 2007 program, I mostly saved documents in the 97-2003 format. However, I saved 12 documents in Word 2007's default "DOCX File" format. Well, turns out those aren't backwards compatable. Word 2002 won't read them, and Notebook and Wordpad just give gobiltygook when I try to open it with them.

So, is there any way I could convert the files to an earlier version of word, or open them with something and copy the text to a Word 2002 document?

I have Microsoft Works and I just purchased Microsoft Office Professional. Do I need to remove Microsoft Works before I install Office?? Do I need to remove anything or will Office check for something like this when it installs?

My Internet Explorer will shut down when I try to do anything that invloves Java. I tried going to the site and reinstalling it, but I just get an error message. I am unable to remove java from the Add/Remove Programs section in the control pannel. Anyone know what I can do to fix my Java or completely uninstall it so I can reinstall again? Thanks.

Okay, most people say Linux is made for severs and that kind of stuff. I like like the Ubuntu Linux running on this old laptop my brother put it on a year ago.
My Questions:
1.Can I run Linux on a Apple MacBook Pro?
2.What is the best type of Linux for running on a Laptop MacBook Pro?
3.Can ITunes be used with that type of Linux?
4.Can my IPod video still be used with that type of Linux?

What is the difference between 32bit and 64bit windows, im not talking about hardware, i just want to know about the software.. i just bought a amd athlon 64fx cpu and it said something about 64 bit windows xp pro.
Does 64 run faster or allow me to do more, and if so.. what?
If i get 32, will it restrict me from doing stuff i could do with 64.. and if so.. what?
may 64 be required for my cpu to work?
and again, please nothing about the cpu or hadware, i have already purchaced that and read all about it in other posts.. i need to know about Windows XP only, thank you.

ok,i used to dwnld torrents from isohunt using utorrent. then,i tried using azureus to dwnld. it's even slower so i uninstalled it. after that,i tried to dwnld em using utorrent like before but the problem is d website can't detect i'm using utorrent so it won't dwnld..any advice,please??

which is "Vista Lite". I just got the upgrad cd. I want to perform install but I am scared to. I dont want to lose all my programs already stored on my laptop which took me 3 years to retrieve. What should I do???? Fresh installation??? And is it possible to transfer over my old programs without reinstalling them after upgrading to Vista Ultimate???

My laptop has returned from being repaired with a file in Documents and Settings named with the vendor's name - I bought it new and until it needed repairing this file bore my name. XP will not allow me to change the name. It is not absolutely vital to mankind for the name to be changed - it's just annoying and I would appreciate advice to solve the problem.

I am an Economist, currently going through my higher studies. I want a software that can create beautiful charts and graphs like WOW charts does or like .net charting shows in its adds. They all look wonderful. I know how to draw charts and graphs in excel and i am not asking for graphing method, rather i need some software that can create stunning graphs and charts for my presentation. If they can be animated, like in wow charts, this will be awesome. You might be wondering if i know the software WOW charts, why am i asking for one? there are some reasons why i cant use WOW charts so i cant! please tell me some other that can suit my requirement.
