when i purchased compaq laptop i got free software installed like microsoft works and wordPerfect office, if i uninstall them how do i re install it, as i dont have the setup files can i download it online and install it with the same serial no and key

yes in fact alot of the time if u install it on your computer with the cd key it verifys the disk there for not needing the key anymore but yes u wiull be able to use the same key for a re-install

Well if you have the CD and the Product Key you shouldn't have any problems with reinstalling them.
If you don't have the CD's then you won't be able to. Microsoft doesn't keep track of all the "pre-installed" versions that are out there. If you rebuild your hard drive you simply lose those programs.
It's not a big issue these days since there is always the Open Office option. Open Office is much better than what you currently have in MS Works and Wordperfect Office and it will read MS Office documents and is compatible with Wordperfect also.
So if you can reinstall those programs just go to http://www.download.com and search on, download, and install Open Office.

Yeah you can try to download them online and just enter the same serial no and key but since you said you just uninstall the programs and now you wanna get it back,i'm sure the Compaq laptop comes with a application recovery..try searching it by clicking 'start' and programs.Try to see if there is a program called 'application recovery ' or something.I hope this information helps!

you can download trials and use your same key.
or you can download bootlegs and still use your key. if you message me ill see if i can find a download site. but likely jjust use the trials on microsofts own website.
