I'm making a CD but my burner messed up and now only half the songs are on there and I'm trying to delete them so I can reuse the CD. I've tried going into My Computer, right clicking the CD, but no "erase" is listed...help? thanks

Whatever software you use to burn a CD should have an option somewhere to erase a CDWR disc. If you tell us what software you're using, someone could probably point to to exactly the right option.

Alternatively, pretend the CDWR is a new blank disk and do whatever you'd usually do to burn a new bunch of songs onto it. The software that does the burning (whatever it is) will most likely stop and inform you that you're attempting to burn to a CDWR that isn't empty - it should then ask you if you want to first erase the CDWR before continuing...

You must format the CD-RW disk. As has already been stated, it will delete everything on the CD-RW so you must first save any tracks that you wish to keep ... unless, of course, you already have them still on your hard drive.

If you're looking for a programme that allows you to erase CD-RW disks, here's one that I've just this minute downloaded and tried. It's called AVS Disc Creator v2.1.5.1. It works wonderfully well, and it's free.

CDRW are designed to erase that is true but you are not able to erase just portions of the CD you must erase the entire CD and then and only then are you able to use it.
You will need to use the burning software, to erase

Without the burner, you can't format the CD-RW.

The writing laser would have to modify the data on the disc.
