I have downloaded the appropriate update to make my computer change to Daylight Savings Time, but it didn't change the time automatically (yes, I restarted the comp). So I called Microsoft help line and was on the phone with them for about an hour and they were no help. Finally we just manually changed the time after we confirmed that the update was in the comp. However, now the time has gone back to pre-DST - has anybody else had this problem? Have a solution?? It's annoying me. Especially since the help desk was SO UNHELPFUL!!!

I tried to install Windows Service Pack 2. About 5 minutes into the installation, I got two consecutive error messages. The first said:
Service Pack 2 Setup
Access is denied.
The second message said:
Service Pack 2 Setup Error
Service Pack 2 installation did not complete
Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work properly.
Are there any suggestions??? Please help.

Hi There,
There is a message that appears when i try to delete temp files from my run application that says error deleting file or folder. It states that it cannot delete because it is being used by another person or program. I can delete these files in safe mode but i do not want to keep deleting from there all the time. what are the steps i should take to find out what exactly is causing this issue? I have scanned for viruses and spyware but nothing has shown up. Have not scanned in safe mode or have not tried mcafee's free scan yet. I could really use some expert advice.
Thank You Very Much,
Deb S.

My computer [HP - Oct'06] recently decided to hate me. I was running Microsoft Windows Media Center 2005 on my computer, as it came stock, for a time and it worked well. I am a student at OSU and the IT Distribution grants each student a copy of Windows XP Professional w/SP2 and/or Windows XP Professional x64 edition. I have both, my computer supports x64. So I went through the usual, reformat and reinstall. I first got rid of HP's System Recovery partition because it enjoys recovering advertisements, Wild Tangent and AOL trials. Then I went to reformat, I inserted the Windows XP Professional x64 disc and rebooted. The system start up begins to initialize and before it can give the Terms and Agreement screen, it blows up. I get another Blue Screen of Death that informs me files are corrupted or may be infected with a virus and that I should run CHKDSK. I restart and attempt to do so, the prompt comes up that windows was not shut down properly and that I should choose: "Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Good Configuration, or Start Windows Normally." I have tried all of them and none work, the Windows Logo pops up as it normally does on load and then the computer restarts. So my question is now, How do I fix this issue? Me and friends beleive it to be some B.S. from HP, or firmware, placed on my motherboard or hard drive... Can anyone help?
