Initially I would try and get the windows 7 running - 1 . Insert the Windows 7 installation disc or System Repair Disc into the CD/DVD drive and restart the computer. WARNING: Check to make sure that you set the BIOS to have the CD or DVD drive listed first in the boot order. 2. If prompted, press any key to boot from the Windows 7 installation DVD. NOTE: You will only have about 8 seconds to press this key. 3. Select your language preferences and click on Next. 4. Click on Repair your computer. 5. Select which operating system you want to restore and the click on Next. (See screenshot below) NOTE: If Windows 7 is not listed here, or it is blank, then it is ok. Click on Next anyway 6. Select the system recovery option you want to do. (See screenshot below) * Startup Repair * System Restore * System Image Recovery * Windows Memory Diagnostic * Command Prompt That's it, Acer may have a hidden recovery partition if you are lucky so you could also try this 1. Plug in the AC adapter and battery. 2. Turn the system on 3. Immediately, press ALT on the keyboard and start tapping F10. Continue holding ALT and tapping F10 as the unit boots up. 4. A screen stating "Starting Acer Erecovery" should appear. (Release ALT and stop tapping F10 at this point) 5. There will be 4 options: 1. Restore system to factory default 2. Restore system from user backup 3. Restore system from cd/dvd 4. Exit Restore system to factory default 1. Enter the password created when eRecovery was first started. 2. Read the on-screen warning and choose Yes. 3. Click Next. The recovery process will start. When recovery is complete the system will re-start and will need to complete the setup of Windows. When setup is complete a process will clean up the recovery files. Please be patient as this process can take 5-10 minutes or longer. If you have never created a recovery disk then this may not work so you would then have to order a set of recovery CD

my experience with acer tells me the best way to reboot it is to open the door and give one swift kick out. Acer has been the worst piece of crap i have ever bought.

You need to do a re-install rather than re-boot. There are the instructions for this in your manual. Remember to save any documents or images etc that you have on your hard drive before you do this, or they will be lost forever.

If you want to reboot, hit the power switch.
If you want it back to factory, i can be bothered telling you but hit install and just write over your old installation kapeesh? Thought so!

Did you put the disc in before you restarted the computer?
Is your CD/DVD set as the first boot device in the BIOS? (Get into Set Up by hitting a specific key as it booting up. {could be F2, F8, DEL, check your documentation})
