There are 8 different version of Vista that are available:
1.Windows Starter 2007 (available in developing countries)
2. Window Vista Home Basic (normal & N version - without media player)
3. Windows Vista Home Premium
4. Windows Vista Business (normal & N version - without media player)
5. Windows Vista Enterprise
6. Windows Vista ULTIMATE
The latest/newest build number for Vista is 6000.
However if your talking about which is the last version of Windows Vista to be released, that would be all version of Vista. Vista was released to the general public on the 30th of Jan, however businesses and pc manufacturer's got Vista from Nov 2006 to get to grips with it.
Hope this helps.

Um... the newest version for me would be Windows Vista Home Premium. Of course, it's also the only version for me. I upgraded to it from XP Media Center Edition on my PC and I run XP Professional on my laptop.
