Software - February 2007

I bought a new pc at christmas and got the free upgrade offer. I have gone to the web site and registered, filled all the information in and sent them payment.
when i check up on the status all it ever says is COA validated!
Has anyone received thires yet, and how long did it take?

With Photoshop, I will sometimes draw a box around a picture, then do Select...Modify... Border, with a width of 8 pixels. I will then do a Fill, with the foreground color, generally black.
This works find, and I get a black line border, which is what I want.
BUT, around the border is a glowy, blurry light gray area. I don't want this... I just want a solid black border.
How do I get Photoshop to just fill the border with solid black line, and not black line with fuzzy gray as well?
The picture is a JPG, 600 dpi, in grayscale mode.

Get message: The combination of artwork size & resolution exceeds the maximum that can be rasterized.
I tried changing the setting. I need to set it at 200 dpi, only let me at 72 dpi. What do I do to fix it. And or what didn't I do.

Ok I have a question.

I am a college student that doesn't have Office 2003 on her computer because it doesn't work anymore, and I'm taking an advanced class about Office 2003. I'm tired of going out in the lobby or library to do my homework but it costs over a hundred bucks to purchase Office 2003.

Also I am taking a class in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Indesign.

Would you buy those just to do your homework at home?

Suggestions?

IE 7 will completely freeze from time to time. I either wait or switch to another program, then back to IE 7. Sometimes that unfreezes, but other times, it remains frozen. Sometimes clicking on a second tabbed browser- then back- helps. On occassion, I get full bars across the bottom, then a long long pause before it connects and performs the request. Google seems to work faster and freeze less often, but Yahoo freezes frequently and seems to be much slower. I have installed the IE7 from Yahoo which is "optimized" for Yahoo. So far the only "optimization" I see is that Yahoo has added a news tab. Anybody have any other ideas?

I have loads of photos on my hardrive. Unfortunately, I did not organize them as well as I should have. I am wondering if there is some sort of application that will automatically organize them, or at least isolate them for me.

A big plus would be if you can provide a link to where I can download it for free! Otherwise, suggestions would be helpful.

I have just bought "csi" for my pc.. I have installed it and am trying to play it. Problem is I keep getting an error message saying macromedia projector has encountered a problem and has to close. My computer meets all the operating requirements and I have uninstallede and reinstalled but still no luck. Anybody please got any ideas what I need to do? Please help

I can manually open the cupholder on my PC, but I can't find where I'm supposed to control the temperature. I want to turn the warmwr on when I have a cup of coffee in the cupholder. I looked in control panel, but I don't find any cupholder controls there.

Hello,I'm working with an MNC in Bangalore on Java/J2EE and WebServices using WebSphere as the platform.I have very good knowledge on J2EE technologies including JMS,EJB,Java Mail etc.I need earn a little more extra income in order to be able to meet my requirements ans support my family.

From Yahoo mail I want to SAVE a word DOC. I left click on download and it saves it with the filename the sender gave it e.g. Mikes Resume. I don't want this. I want to save it by his name e.g. MIKE SMITH- is there a way to do this? I know I can obviously OPEN it and "SAVE AS" but then I have 2 files, not one. I do recruiting so I am dealing with a high volume of files daily so I do not want redundancy. The only option I see in Firefox is to let me chose the DESTINATION FOLDER. Outook lets me SAVE AS from the start. Any ideas are welcome.
