I just got The Sims 2 & The Sims 2: University. How do I make the computer perform better without wearing the computer out? I have a Dell Dimension E310 Series with an Intel Pentium 4 Processor 521 (2.80GHz) and 1MB cache W/ a 80GB SATA Hard Drive & 512MB RAM. Your advice would be much appreciated!

I have a large text document containing about 600,000 names and addresses. Im looking for certain groups of names, especially groups of people listed togther. Does anyone know of a program to do this? WordPad searches but only one at a time and doesnt tell me what the total number of each name exists.

When I try to login to windows XP it says "The specified Domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" -- but my PC isn't (and never has been) part of a domain.

Hi, I'm trying to burn a DVD and it is asking me for a folder for the tempory files to be stored on. Every time I select one it comes up that only 3138Mb are available when it needs to have 4405Mb on it. I've tried cleaning out all the old files but cannot get it to increase. Anyone know how to do it! Thanks in advance!

I tried to upgrade my pc to windows media center edition. Unfortunately, I cannot since the OS I have in my PC is a corporate edition. So when I boot, it goes to the dos screen asking if I should boot in windows XP or do a windows setup. I want to get ride of that dos menu so it can boot w/out asking "Boot in XP" or "Windows setup". My pc is connected to my big screen via HDMI but have to remove it everytime it boots cuz HDTV does not support dos screen.

I am going to do clean reinstallation of winxp from DOS, I ran this: format c: /fs:fat32, I ran it from window's DOS,not pure DOS, (the format.com copy from window \system 32, it's xp version, not win98,so it's can only run from window) but it was fail. do you have any solution for clean installation? My window xp was stored on D drive, so I can boot from A drive then switch to D, run d:\...i386\winnt, Thank for your help.
