Open up the computer and change the jumper on the back of the drive. If there are 2 drives on the same cable (the wide one) only 1 can be master and 1 slave. It should have instructions on where to put the jumpers on the back.

John U had the right answer. Only DVDs and CD-Roms need the master/slave setup. Hard drives can use CS (cable select) unless you have a hard drive and a DVD or CD-Rom on the same cable.

upon booting up computer go into the bios mode look on your screen to see what t press to enter then adjust it from there

you will see wihich is your master and which is your slave
you then should beable to reverse them and restart
