I tried to upgrade my pc to windows media center edition. Unfortunately, I cannot since the OS I have in my PC is a corporate edition. So when I boot, it goes to the dos screen asking if I should boot in windows XP or do a windows setup. I want to get ride of that dos menu so it can boot w/out asking "Boot in XP" or "Windows setup". My pc is connected to my big screen via HDMI but have to remove it everytime it boots cuz HDTV does not support dos screen.

boot.ini file will be in the first drive in your harddisk, probably in C Drive. This file will be hidden. You can follow the following instructions to remove the unwanted entry in the boot.ini

An Effective way

1. Once after you bootup with XP, right click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties. Click on Advanced Tab.
3. You will see "Startup" area. You can click on "Settings" button.
4. In the Systems Startup area, choose the Default Operating System by clicking on the dropdown list (in this case, choose Windows XP)
5. Remove the tick from "Time to display..." and click on OK

After this, you can open the Notepad program.
1. Click on File and then click on "Open"
2. Navigate to C Drive
3. In the Filename field, type boot.ini and press enter.
4. Now your boot.ini file will load.
5. Delete the last line. Save and close.

Good luck.
