Other - Computers - November 2006

For some reason my open programs don't show up on the task bar, when they're open or minimalized. It's not because the task bar is auto-hid or anything like that. I can use Alt + Tab, but it's annoying and I like it as it was. Anyone know what to do? I've seen some of the answers other people have had, but none actually answer the question

My ex girlfriend took my computer when she moved out. I just got it back, and she has deleted all my files and email. Will my recovery and applications disc that came with the computer, recover the information I am looking for?

I currently own a dell latitude cpi A366xt and to be honest I HATE it! I have had nothing but problems I am interested in a few other laptops Toshiba Satellite Pro L100, Acer Travelmate 2428WXMi, Fujitsu Siemens AMilo Pro V2030 and the HP NX6325.

I tried searching the web but no luck does anyone out there own any of these 4 laptops? if so can you tell me what you think.

I will never own a dell again and want to pick out of these 4 as they are the only ones www.student-laptops.co.uk (where I bought the dell reconditioned for £159.) that are available in my price range.

Any advice will be of great use. Any PC wizards or companys want to fix my dell and update it then let me know lol.

i have heard that their is an company which makes some screen savers which are used to calculate some things. users who want to give their computer for calculations, download the screen saver and run that. they are paid for how much they run screen saver.

My fujis5200 has a menu to change from 5.1 megs to a low of 2megs. will this help with storing mor pics on my computer? Can i change the size of pic once in the computer? thanks guys.

i have been given a copy of norton ghost,and reading the cover it says it can re-install windows in 2 minutes

When I try to defragment, it says that there are 3 items in that folder that cannot be defragmented. However, when I look in the folder, there is nothing there. Someone I talked to called them "ghost items". They are there, but I can't see them. Whatever these items are, they are taking up almost 3 GB of space.

with 256mb of ram, how many digi photos can i paintshop and store. the kb numbers are much larger than my old 35mm pics that are stored. 5megapix camera. 55yrs old and new to pc,s and digi cameras. thanks people.

I'd really like to remove IE from my computer because I've had nothing but problems like viruses and spyware when I've used it. I'm now using either Opera or Firefox, but I'd still like to remove IE even though I'm not using it anymore. How can I delete IE from my system folder? I have Windows XP.

Also, before I totally remove IE, is there a way to import my IE bookmarks into either Firefox or Opera?

we want to buy a computer but is it better to go for a laptop or a tower and monitor?
My partner wants it for doing mapping to cars (something to do with performance) and i want it for photos and internet as well as using for work when i go courses and have to write assignments.

When I choose either of the options the windows does not start. I do not have the Windows XP reinstallation CD. Does anyone know how I can start the Windows without the need for the Windows XP reinstallation CD?

I am writing a term paper and using pictures from the wed in it. I text-wrapped the pictures into the paragraphs. Some how my setting got messed up and now whenever I try to move the picture or press ENTER to move a paragraph down pagination occurs, adding over 100 blank pages to my document. The page adding seems to be infinite, not allowing me to simply delete them. I am desperate for advice and have tried every type of troubleshooting available. Thanks so much!
