I'd really like to remove IE from my computer because I've had nothing but problems like viruses and spyware when I've used it. I'm now using either Opera or Firefox, but I'd still like to remove IE even though I'm not using it anymore. How can I delete IE from my system folder? I have Windows XP.

Also, before I totally remove IE, is there a way to import my IE bookmarks into either Firefox or Opera?

I'd also like to remove IE from my list of programs that come up when I click on Start.

I do already have AdAware on my computer and run it just about every day, but there have been times when it seems like my computer is running way too slow even when I don't have many programs running.

You really can't. It is integrated everywhere in Windows. But when you use FireFox as the default, IE should not come up. If you are using IE6, it should remain dormant for you.

But I would suspect SpyWare. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Spybot does a good job of cleaning up your registry of these threats. Ad-aware does a good job of scanning files that will cause a re-occurance of Spyware. This double whammy is what you need.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
