with 256mb of ram, how many digi photos can i paintshop and store. the kb numbers are much larger than my old 35mm pics that are stored. 5megapix camera. 55yrs old and new to pc,s and digi cameras. thanks people.

256 of ram is the specs of my dell pc. how to tell my GB's?

Well sir, "how many" is not depends on your RAM, it depends on your hard disk memory(20GB, 40GB, 80GB etc..) so don't care about Kb's of Pictures and how much RAM u have for painting (if u r not painting really high quality images). but's it will slow down ur system because 256MB is generally not enough for media editing and manipulation. You can store millions of these type photos and pics in ur hard disk if u have 80GB HD.

The RAM has nothing to do with storage. The pictures would be stored on the hard drive

do you mean the memory card for the camera is 256mb?
If that is the case you can probably store around 100 photos at highest quality ;)

Normally you need good computer memory (1 GB nowadays) to process pictures/videos.
