Nothing pops up. I then go to my computer and it doesnt show up there either. I know it works on other computers, and the usb ports on this computer work becasue the printer and scanner work. Any suggestions?

My pc is a Gateway performance 933 I live in an area where there is only dial-up. My connection was fine until 2 mo. ago then I was getting booted as soon as I got connected. My daughter hooked up her computer & was online for a couple hours with no problems. So I know it is not the line. She also took my tower to town to hook up to high-speed through ethernet & it was online a couple hours with no problems. So I know it's not the line or the computer..She replaced the modem (which I had replaced not long before) and it worked great..for about a week then I was getting booted almost instantly again. She replaced the modem yesterday & I was able to stay online but it was barely moving,(saying I was connected at 31,000bps) so she moved it to another PCI slot & the speed shot right back up(connected at 28,000) for a couple hours..Now it took me 20 min. just to get to yahoo answers...I manually changed the modem speed from 11 million to 38,000..no change, have plenty of memory, any ideas?

i once download like 4 songs from lime wire but they take up alot of memory they all 4 took up like 4 megabytes of my harddrive is their a way i can like shrink that much space becasue its yust too much how do people have so many songs saved but it dosent look like it takes up alot of memory

Well, I have a memory DDR installed on my PC but I want to get that inside the CPU but how? becoz I want to bring that as a sample in the store to buy another memory card with the same speed on it. Im just curious on how to get that Memory card on the CPU intself. Pls help. thnx in advance.

I'm not very savy when it comes to problems on our computer, and I have a reaccuring problem. When I'm on sometimes our notepad or paint shop pop up and someone starts drawing pictures, I know this sounds weird, but it is also annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it?

When I start my computer it runs Windows Fax Installer - when I try to stop it, (cancel) it gives me an error code of 1706 "no source can be found for product fax". Also, when I open my browser it trys to install! Is this a virus? How would you recommend to remove it?

when i play my online games. sometimes i have a high latency. i have dsl, and i dont have really anything running in the background except system programs. Sometimes i get kickd for a high latency. How to reduce it?

I am trying to connect my pc to my tv. my tv is a whafedale LCD HD, It came with a connection lead, the problem I have is, the the part that connects to the tv is the same as the monitor plug on the back of my pc, the other end has three different colored plugs, Red, Blue & Green, these plugs wont seem to fit any of the addaptors on the back of my pc, can you get a lead that has the same plug fittings on each end ( monitor plug ) ??? this would make it a lot easier

I am about to purchase a computer Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition comes with, I am wondering if this is new or and old hardware. I do not know too mcuh about my intended purchase, would love some info on what package, Should I buy XP or get Windows 98 or something. my computer's OS is Windows 98 SE......I used to have a "Maintenance Wizard" icon on my desktop and now its gone and "sytem tools" are no longer in my start menu but I know they are still on my hard drive but I dont know what I did wrong...how do I get these back ???........help, plz ( I"m not a puter geek. Mine's broke, you could grate cheese with it!

I can see it's easy enough to take one out and replace it with another...but what then? Don't get clever with me, because I'm a techno' idiot, hence the question. Ok, the answer's probably get someone else to do it, but I thought I'd ask first just in case it was something I could do without much problem. Would a new DVD player come with the relevant instructions or software?
