A computer friend of mine told me how to do it,,, and that the keys really should come off. I took a flat screwdriver just to get under the key and lift it up. They actually do come off rather easily when you do it this way. Don't force it against the way it wants to move,, but lift them up. The larger keys need a little more care because there are little metal things that stabilize them and you have to leave them there and fit them back right. The space bar was hard for me because there are two places, one on each end to stabilize that one. I took them off 1/3 of the board at a time, and placed them on the desk in order, but I guess you could take them all off at once too. I got a little electric vacuum now, but for sticky stuff like juice spilled I used cotton swabs.

Buy a can of compressed air, these come with a very thin pipe which will get between the keys.

Then vacuum it.

As for the keys, a little meths on a Cotton bud does mine.

Most come unscrewed with 4/6 screws if you really want to go that far, but be-careful not to drop the keys and mix them up.

Of course you can't! The only thing you can do is to put a handkerchief over the nozzle of your vaccuum cleaner (attached with an elastic band) and hold it about an inch above the keyboard to pick up any dust.
With the computer TURNED OFF, pick up the keyboard, turn it upside down and shake GENTLY.
Then, still with it turned off, you can wipe the fascia of the keyboard with a damp (not dripping!) cloth.
Then you go out and buy a new keyboard.

I'm not sure, mine has got strands of tinsel in that we used to decorate the office at Christmas 2002!!!!

You could try those aerosols that blast out air really fast to remove dust etc from under the keys, they work OK if there's not a big build up.

Good luck x

its best just to buy a new one ive had experince with this ive gone through proably 20 keyboards my whole life and im only 16. dont pop the keys off they might break dont use any liquid inside it could short circuit it. dont do anything to it inless its on the top of the keys or on the bottom of the keyboard its best just to go buy a new one and not get anything on it.

When you're having a bath, just take the keyboard in with you and give it a good scrub. Then, when you get out of the bath, throw the keyboard in the bin and buy a new one.

They are cheap enough, I would just buy a new one. If you want to clean it though, try canned air. Or unplug it and run it under water for a while then let it *thoroughly* dry.

I always stick something like a thin knife under my keys and they try and pop them out, it usually works, but don't blame me for any damage. ;)
