my computer won't start! right after the windows XP loading screen the screen goes black and after 5 sec or so it makes a clicking noise and dies on me. should i use the recovery CD's to reboot? if so, how do i? it won't boot up at all! arg!!!

In my pc, the desktop icons get shadowed automatically. how can i remove those shadows? There is an icon, and it's name get blue shadow, why? please solve my problems soon.

I don't have any diagnostic programs running during the day but it sounds like the computer is doing something. Control/alt/delete doesn't show anything either.

Yesterday at work I don't know what I did but now my font is HUGE! And I don't like it that way. I tried the desktop properties and found no option to change the font. I tried holding down the buttons on the mouse while rolling the mouse scroller and that didn't work either. PLEASE....if anyone knows how to fix it I would be very grateful, grateful enough to give you 10 points!!! Thanks!

I was just wondering if it was possible to record from a VHS tape to a CPU or CD and if so what type of things I would need. Is it simple or difficult?

I have windows 2000. when I turn on my computor starting windows comes on, then the windows 2000 screen comes up. after that loads the screen goes blue for 2 seconds then goes dark, then a blue screen flashes for a half a second with some words on it then the laptop shuts down, restarts and the same thing happens. II can hit f8 and go into safe mode and it will keep going and not shut down. Is there anything I can do other than spend $200 to take it to a repair shop?

Allright I just bought a laptop from Circuit City. It's an HP Pavilion dv 1000 Notebook. Pretty new, it came right off the shelf. One problem I'm seeing is that I charged the brand new battery and the little lightning bolt charge light went off, so I assumed it was finished charging. And when I loaded it up and checked the battery icon in the system tray, it was at 96% which was good enough for me. But I used it for probably a total of 15 minutes and the battery was around 80% already. Is that normal for laptop batteries or did I not charge it properly?

Ok i want to buy a Good and Solid laptop which which will last for quite along period of time with not many problems,it for home use;Im asking if yall could like recomend some good brands and why ..Lol i do hear the best to buy is the Toshiba line of notebooks or what ever you call them...Is that like true....IDEAS ppl thanks alot hehe

While fiddling around with my computer, I seem to have changed some of the settings that were in place three days ago. For example, I've noticed that fonts have changed in size, colour etc.
Is there someway of getting my computer back to where it was, three days ago?
