I've just been down the computer mall. I enquired about CD writers. New brand name (Epson, HP) basic writers are under 10 GBP and CD/DVD writers are under 20 GBP. I am not sure which to buy. I haven't got a writer on my computer as it's old. What type of user would require each type? What are the advantages of CDs over thumb drives?

I installed PCLinuxOS but it doesn't seem to work with my belkin wireless USB adapter. It works fine when I boot it on windows, but on Linux it doesn't.

Hi,

I am looking to replace the 16MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra video card on my Dell Dimension 4600.

RAM has previously been upgraded from 512MB to 1GB (DDR).

I am looking at buying the GeForce7800 GS AGP but I'm not 100% sure if it is compatible with my system? If not, what other compatible graphics cards would be suitable for online gaming?

I want to purchase a external dvd burner. i dont want to mess with the computers internal motherbords. Does exteral dvd burners mean that its usb compadible? im brand new at this and i would love to buy one. so basicaly can i buy a external dvd burner and hook it up via usb? thanks

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 and I'm thinking about buying a firewire card so that I can put my stuff from my video camera on the PC. First of all, would I be able to do this? If so, I'm confused to where the card would be installed (ie: back, front, etc). Finally, if you happen to know, which card do you recommend. okay so i think that my computer has a virus and im really paranoid that my computer is going to crash any second.... i need to backup all my videos, music and pictures and some programs that i have onto a cd.... i bought a CD-RW.... is that the right one to buy?? if you tell me its not im going to scream.... haha well yea im totally clueless on how to put stuff onto a cd..... do i just copy and past? i need to back up everything so that i can reboot my computer.

I have a LITEON external USB DVD burner model # SOHW-1673W.

Before today it had no problems. Nothing changed that I know of.
Now when I stick in a DVD+R or DVD-R the drive changes from DVD-RW drive (in My Computer) to CD-Drive and thinks they're CDs.
Happened on more than one computer too
just updated firmware and everything and that didnt work


Please think of suggestions other than firmware or drivers since I"ve tried that and I can't find the drivers for it either
