I have a LITEON external USB DVD burner model # SOHW-1673W.

Before today it had no problems. Nothing changed that I know of.
Now when I stick in a DVD+R or DVD-R the drive changes from DVD-RW drive (in My Computer) to CD-Drive and thinks they're CDs.
Happened on more than one computer too
just updated firmware and everything and that didnt work

Please think of suggestions other than firmware or drivers since I"ve tried that and I can't find the drivers for it either

my dvdrw has always done that. on all of my computers at home or work.. its normal.. they still burn as dvd's just windows sees them as a cd in my computer. your burn program will recognize them correctly.
UPDATE: What program do you use to burn the dvd's???
