I have a Compaq Presario 5000 and I'm thinking about buying a firewire card so that I can put my stuff from my video camera on the PC. First of all, would I be able to do this? If so, I'm confused to where the card would be installed (ie: back, front, etc). Finally, if you happen to know, which card do you recommend. Thanks so much for your help, it really means a lot to me.

Yes you can...so long as you have a free PCI slot (by default this model does have a free slot).

The technology in Firewire cards has pretty much peaked so the make & model will not likely be significant factors in reliability. They come a cheap as $20, & some models do include front bezels for easier connections.
