Well, If you meant upgrading your CPU from internet, then it is a definitly no.
You have to buy the Core 2 Duo and first you must check if your Motherboard supports the intel core 2 duo processor.
Hope it will help

Upgrading your CPU is the same as buying a new CPU.
In my experience, I see no significant increase in performance with Core 2 Duo. In fact, I saw a reduction on my servers. It seems that the CPU gets confused as to where to send the work on the Core 2 Duo. However, this is a specify case, where the server is continuously doing one job.
If you are the typical email, word-processing, internet-browsing user, you will probably see no difference.
I recommend upgrading your RAM before upgrading your CPU to see a significant performance boost -- the kind of boost where your programs actually open faster and run faster and you can have more windows open at once.

Try to see what type of socket you have on your current motherboard and then check the socket requirements for the Core 2 Duo. Then maybe it might work.

If your motherboard's CPU socket is an LGA775 socket that you can use a Celeron, P4 or Dual Core CPU on the board. Check the box it came in, or open it up and check the name and model of the board and find the specs online. Hope this helps you.
