If your screen saver detects "activity" on your coputer - such as a key being pressed or the mouse being moved, it will stp the screen saver. It is possible that the wireless mouse is sending a signal that your PC is detecting as "activity". That would prevent the screen saver from coming on.

Trying switching to a regular mouse temporarily and see if that makes any different. If it does, you may have to look through the settings for the mouse to see if you can adjust anything that might turn off the "activity" your PC is detecting.

Known issue. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895/en-us

The moues issues periodic radio status reports. Normally this is not an issue, but certain software can kick the OS into a mode where these packets are indistinguishable from packets that indicate user presence, so the machine thinks a human is persent and keeps the screensaver off.
