This printers works OK when I print something from a document but not when I try and do something from the 'HP Director'. When I try to either scan pictures or documents or copy something it doesn't respond.
It is not consistent- some times it comes up with 'there is a problem and it needs to close'. There is a lot of technical info given. It does occasionally copy something, it also quite regularly simply crashes (not the whole computer) and also changes (mainly removes) the colour on the screen.
I have used the driver discs to no avail. The troubleshooting comes up with a problem with the connection between the printer and computer.
Any suggestions?

I intend to buy a new computer soon with Core2 duo chip and nVidia grahic card to run Windows Home Premium. Due to budget constraint I intend to use my current Dell CRT monitor and upgrade to a LCD monitor later. I will use the computer to surf the net, run Microsoft Office and play some games. Will I encounter any problem using the old CRT monitor.

When we assemble a PC, we need to install a RAM card into the socket to give the PC a RAM. However, can we just take any RAM card and just slot into the motherboard? How do we determine what is the RAM card to use for each motherboard?

I have a Westell 327w router (ISP=Verizon) and my laptop has a 1390 WLAN Mini-Card. Someone else's laptop connected at the router without any trouble, and my laptop also connected to another router, so I know that both pieces work. Can anyone suggest what the problem is?

Does anyone know what brand this 500w psu is on my 2nd rig? The only significant details I see aside from the voltage tables are:

- Model: LC-B500E (I don't know whether this is a standard code regardless of brand/manufacturer)

- A big red letter "I" symbol with 5 horizontal bars on top of it

- switching power supply next to the symbol (although this isn't really useful)

So far it has been working fine for about 8 months now but I need to know if this thing is reputable and has redundancies for those unsettling power anomalies so that I could just leave it as is.

When I turn my PC on for the first time in the morning (or after it hasnt been on for a while) it seems to be booting up - the lights are on and there is whirring but the screen remains on standby. I have to leave the PC for about 15 minutes before forcing shutdown and trying again - after this point, the PC boots normally with no problems.

Has anybody got any advice - I have been told that it could be the PSU that is not powerfull enough but want to check if anybody has any ideas before I fork out for a new PSU

PS> the PC is a DELL with different parts in it - 2 hard drives, a geforce 6600, DVD Drive, dvd writer 1 GB ram.. if that helps - and I'v just installed a fresh copy of XP on it.

Right now I'm using a Pentium 4 Mobile HT 3.21 GHz, it's of course is a single core. Anyway, Windows (Dxdiag and the task manager) keeps saying it's '2 CPUs', It shows up as "Intel Mobile Pentium 4 (2 CPUs)." Is this a glitch or something?

I have 2G of (Kingston) RAM. However, most of the time, the softwares (e.g. CorelDraw) didn't fully use RAM and yet they go very slow. I have XP on 2.6 D-Core.

Thank you.

This morning when I turned on my laptop it said to me: Yo Buddy! Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs\.sys

I have tried everything. I cannot even get to the "r" at the first screen.
I have tried to re-boot the machine wityh the XP disk in the cd-rom. It will not let me go anywhere and tells me:
Yo Buddy! Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs\.sys

I cannot even get into the command prompt mode, safe mode or anywhere else. I am completely locked out and don't know what to do!

Anybody know what the hell is going on with my computer.

Your knowledge and wisdom in this dark field of binary coding is greatly appreciated!

CHeers, Rob

ok just tried to install a cd burner into my motherinlaws pc, it previosly only had a cdrom in it but they want the burner in it too.
The cdrom is plugged into the second ide port on the motherboard and its the only thing on this circut. So i pug it into the free spot on this cable (which took up the middle space on the cord as the cdrom was already plugged into the end of cable) set it as master as the other one was setup up as slave then tryies to run the system.
It took forever to get thru the startup sequence ( where you hit del for bios) and eventually (like 2 mins later) loaded next screen but failed to boot up windows it told me to insert system disk.

I have done this once before on win 98 and had no probs i also have changed the cd burner to a dvd burner on my xp system and had no problems so why did this stuff up?
