Me? I'll go for a WD Raptor anytime.

The Raptor will be slightly faster. Always.

But then you're comparing 600 GB of space to 150 GB.

So what would you rather have? A bit more speed and stability, or 4 times the disk space?

most anything that says it is 10k (10,000rpm) will be faster. All standard hard drives run at 7,200rpm. Doesn't matter how many you have or the RAID config. The fastest is SCSI 15k (15,000rpm) but you need a SCSI controller to connect it!
