I just installed Windows Vista and my computer is VERY slow. I found this folder that says "windows.old" and i noticed that it's got all my files from my previous version of windows. Should I delete that file?

Why do you have to download linux on a CD, or buy a linux CD? why can't you download it straight to your PC?

We recently had a problem with a Compaq notebook not powering up. We bought from Best Buy and purchased the extended warranty, which was expiring in 2 months. so we took it to Geek Squad. They sent it in, replaced the hard drive and returned it. ONE DAY after the warranty expired the computer wouldn't power up. I had a tech from my work IT dept look at it and the hard drive was labeled "repaired". I took back to Best Buy and they were adamant that they only use the highest quality brand new parts. Upon my request they removed the hard drive and it took a manager to admit that it was "repaired". After a few days of the manager making phone calls it was determined that they would replace the hard drive free of charge. I received a message yesterday from Best Buy that the hard drive was replaced but the motherboard is bad and will cost $640 (cash) to replace.
My question - can a hard drive replacement mask a bad motherboard? Does anyone have any suggestions? HELP Please!

I am 15, I have a 4 year old PC which is really slow and I have told my mom for 6 months now that I want a Mac Mini but she always says that she doesn't have money but i know that it isn't true because she is always wasting money on things that she never uses and because of that she never buys me anything (Last time she bought me a game for my PSP and that was over 5 months ago), and even though the Mac Mini doesn't come with a monitor, i already have one, what should i do? I don't know the exact terms for this stuff, but I'll try to explain. I think my computer crashed, but anyways, when I turned it on, the screen was black and some white text came up in font similar to courier new, it looked like the squarish blocked latters that typewriters use. It said something about pressing f11 or f12 or something, and then some other stuff. But anyways, i was pressing that f11 or f12 button and it didn't work. so i had to do a system recovery. I think that's what it's called, but I had to put in 3 cds one after the other and it restarted my system back to facotry settings. Now, I'm just wondering if i could somehow get my files back? Is that possible at all?

Like when you set the pixels on MS Paint or any other program like Photoshop Elements. I used to know but now I have forgotten. D=

I have to make a Restaruant Menu for Math Class. It needs to be on one printed page or done on construction paper. My handwriting looks really bad, and Photoshop Elements has a lot of cool effects so I just want to use that. I might make an A! Yaaayz!

My new laptop which came with Vista does not seem to like Internet Explorer. It runs smoothly with Moxilla but hangs with I.E. Can someone explain to me what the matter is? Please do not ask me to dump my Vista (as I know many readers would want to suggest). I would prefer to dump I.E and all its problems than change my licensed Operating system.
