I want to experiment with making eye-catching yet unobtrusive ads, but the price of a commercial editor is rather prohibitive for just putting a toe in the water, or the limited use I'd put it to if it works out.

My new computer has tons of offers and junk. I put it all in my documents in a folder. Is that right? I bought windows live onecare for it too. The guys at staples said to install IE 7 beta if I opted not to use mozilla/firefox. I couldn't find it on microsofts download site. Instead I just downloaded all the updates for XP Home and that included IE 6 updates. I need advice? Am I safe?

I've noticed that YouTube, Google, and the upcoming Microsoft Soapbox video sharing services use Flash for their videos. I was especially surprised that Soapbox isn't going to use Windows Media Video. Anyone know why Flash seems to be the format of choice?

My laptop acts like Im not the admistrator of my computer. It says I am the administrator in the users/profiles section in control panel. But I can't install software now, or change system time, or change folder options, create other accounts, or really anything an administrator should be able to do. Also I just recovered the computer from a virus and it is working great now, the virsus is gone, but I think that it must have changed registry stuff to make it thinki I'm not the administrator. Any suggestions?

I have up-to-date spybot, adaware, symantec AV, McAfee firewall installed on my computer. I ran the scan as I normally did and everything seemed clean. Then I decided to run an online scan because ppl said they were more effective, and yes they did detect things my other scans did not detect.
Why? Can certain viruses/spyware camouflage themselves against locally running AV software?

I used ewido's online scan. http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
I think it's pretty good, but is it the best?

Today I setup a wireless router (A Netgear WPN824) so I could access the internet with the 2 laptops in the house. I've gone through routerlogin.com and set everything up correctly. Laptop one appears to be connected, but no internet pages work. On Laptop 2 the status appears as "Limited or no connectivity" as it is cannot "renew IP address". The internet works briefly when I log on and then goes off again. Security options are set to TKIP as recommended. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How similar is the data on different computers? I assume that backing up a slew of corporate PCs would require very little space, because most of the machines are very similar... identical OS, software installs, etc. Mostly just config files and user data are different.

But how similar are regular PCs belonging to the average Joe? There don't seem to be that many possible OS versions, and really that much software that's unique. Any data to back up the claim is much appreciated.
