What's the 'something'? The tray will not eject with the machine turned on?
Have you tried a Mac Tool? (In the biz, that's what we call a half unbent Jumbo paper clip). There should be a small hole somewhere below the tray. Insert the paper clip end untill you feel it come up against the stop. Press gently but firmly. This should pop the tray out enough for you to be able to pull it the rest of the way with your fingers.
If whatever is lodged in there isn't a disk and is hanging on the face frame, yes, you'll have to remove the drive from the computer and open its case.

something stuck... sounds like you put a sock or something into the drive :-)
turn off your computer... unplug it from the mains just in case... get a thin but stiff wire... like a straightened out paperclip... and on the front panel of the drive there should be a small hole... insert the wire into that hole and inside there will be a plastic gear... you will have to turn that gear using the wire... and your drive should open...
hope this helped... and remember only cds and dvds go into the drive... :-)

There should be a tiny hole on the front of the drive. Stick a paperclip in it and it should pop out.
