Will the restoration software (discs and drivers) for a Compaq Presario r3000 work for the Compaq Presario v2000?

If no, where can I get the software to restore the v2000? My friend is selling me his computer but he doesn't have the software. Where can I find it?

No, the restoration discs are for each specific model. You can just install Windows without the restoration disks, or you can contact HP and they can send you the restoration discs.

If you haven't bought it yet, DON'T. Compaq are the lousiest, most trouble prone of all the PCs (both desk and laptops). I wouldn't take one if someone wanted to give one to me, since I wouldn't want to use it myself, and I wouldn't screw someone by selling it to them!
