If you're not into technobabble, check out your system specs to be sure you actually can play the game. The expansions will need yet more resources so they have separate tests. Go to this site and in the black box, test your computer for the Sims 2:

If it will run and you don't get a lot of red marks, then just insert disk 1 and follow the directions from your game package.

What s the difference between a pc and dell xps 400 .Does it use windows mac or any other software. If it uses a software different from windows you should find an emulator.

Your processor/vid/sound card could not be up to the challenge.

Get the disk, put it in the cd drive, click install.
