Hi I have a problem with my compaq computer. I got a screen messege that sais "non-system disk or disk erro replace and strike any key when ready" what can I do? I don't want to lose my data.

Take the floppy out of the disk drive or remove the cd from the tray. In the future you can set the boot options to boot from your harddrive 1st instead of your floppy drive or cd drive through the bios. This also will speed up how fast your pc boots up from the time you turn it on. Though be warned, messing with your bios can screw up your pc. It might be better to just remember to always remove all disks from the disk drives.

If you have a floppy disk in, take it out then reboot. If that doesn't work, you might need to perform a Repair Install on Windows:

do you have anything in the floppy drive, if no then it sounds like sombody has formatted your machine, or the system files are damaged, if it has been formated there is data recovery.
or you would need to reinstall windows xp or whatever version u had previous installed.

always keep your data in D:/ E:/ Or other drives you operating system is needed to reinstall which data is in my dacuments will be lost and all data of C:/ drive will also lost
