I don't know what is the computer's cause of death: I started it today and it was sounding really loud and Windows started but didn't finish loading. So, I'm guessing it's a hardware thing and not viruses or malware (I run the anti-virus and anti-spyware a day before and it was fine). Yesterday, everything was fine (or at least I think it was).
There should be a way of getting the hard disk out of the laptop and somehow connect to another computer. How does it go? If any of you have a good idea and have the time to walk me through the process I would be extremely grateful!
Thanks in advance
Daniel
ps: the laptop is a toshiba satellite A15-S129

About two days ago my fiance went and downloaded and installed a file sharing program called bearshare of course it had all kinds of malware in it. I went in and uninstalled the mywebsearch or whatever program which had installed both an IE and FIrefox search bar. I also downloaded hijack this and made sure that all was clean there. Afterwards I went to an online virus scanner I found off of pchell.com and found 1 more program and removed it. AdAware SE gives me the all clear and I was done or so I thought. After all was said and done IE will not do a few things. The 1st and most annoying is that all textbox elements are inactive i would say they appear normal but you cannot copy, paste, cut, or type into or out of any textbox or textarea elements I tried using several different websites and no luck. Help please! 2nd less annoying when I go to Help-> About to try to get the version IE Crashes same if i try to go to the history or internet options ? Any Ideas? we're on XP Pro SP2

I save digital images from the web. What's the smartest method for keeping them organized--manually saving them in labeled folders in My Documents, or saving all the photos in just one folder unlabeled and use software like Paint Shop Album or Photoshop Album to tag and organize them? What should I do when I want to delete some photos...should I always delete from within the photo organizer software?

Is there a way to set an Object element that embeds HTML to automatically size so that all the data in the embeded web page is visible without the frame for the embeded page clipping the text or having any left over space where there is no text? If I don't specify a width and a height, it defaults to size 0x0 in IE, but if I do set a size, I have to try to figure out how that is going to look on the target computer, what size resolution, if the window is maximized, etc.

When I create a blank Access file and attach it to an email message. My receipients get the following message when they try to download the file. I too get the same message when I email the attachment to myself.

Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.

Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security
problems. To open the file, copy it to your computer or an accessible network location.

I have been doing some searches and even looked at MS support page, but I am not having any luck. I have changed the securitiy levels under Internet Options and I have also added the computer's IP addresses to "Trusted sites". The computers are not on a network and my home computer is 98 operating system and the one at work is XP, in case that helps.

I just want to email the Access file between computers so I can alter the information. I am familiar with computers, but I am not a wizard. Thank you!

I have no idea what it is, where to get one or how to add it.

Have an old Compaq Deskpro, and was prompted to add the above after connecting a 4port USB 2.0 hub.

All Answers written in idiot-proof language would be gratefully received. Please assume I am thoroughly stupid.

Thank you folks.

Hi,

We are buying our first home computer and looking for some advice. So far we have both always used PCs but I hear good things about Apples. Our main uses would be: surfing the internet, photo storage, music storage, building and maintaining a website, using email, recording music and creating/editing word documents. We don't envisage doing any gaming or graphic design type things. How do Apples and comparably priced PCs compare on these things?

Neither of us are particluarly computer literate so a relevant consideration is whether we could get to grips with how the Apple works. Do not want to spend a lot of time learning how it works.

Thanks!
